The purpose is to alleviate poverty in the rural women and youth. It all began with the community coming together to help each other. The Tea Seedlings project, begun in 2005, and it has helped six families improve their financial situation by allowing them to purchase, harvest and then sell the seedlings for income.
After two years the picking of tea leaves will provide a steady income to the families and enable them to have food and pay for the education of their children. 500 tea seedlings can be purchased with a donation of only $76. The target is to plant 2000 tea seedlings per family that will provide enough income for the poor families to have better lives.
